Magazine Box Photo Booth Rental in Baltimore

Couple posing inside a light-up custom magazine cover box

Here's everything that comes with a magazine box photo booth rental in Baltimore and Central Maryland from EMCO Booth, before we get into the details:

  • A life-size, light-up magazine cover guests step into
  • Standard customization: cover title, your names, the date and the headlines
  • A lighting kit so phone photos look like a print edition
  • The whole day, from setup until your event ends
  • $850 all day

That's the short version. The rest of this post covers how guests use it, what it costs to get it to your venue, the add-ons, and cover ideas for the events it suits best.

How guests use the Magazine Box

The Magazine Box works differently from our other booths. Guests step into the frame and take photos on their own phones, or a friend snaps them. The lighting kit does the heavy lifting, so the photos come out bright and clean even in an evening room.

That has a few upsides:

  • No waiting on a screen. Several groups can take turns quickly.
  • Photos are already on guests' phones, ready to post.
  • It photographs well from any phone, because the cover and the light are what make the shot.

If you want prints or instant sharing as well, you can add a printer or digital booth next to the box. More on that below.

Magazine box photo booth rental in Baltimore and Central Maryland: price, travel and tax

The price is simple: $850 for the whole day. Standard customization, the lighting kit and the life-size box are included.

You have two ways to get it to your event:

  1. Travel fee: $175. We bring it and set it up.
  2. You pick up and drop off. No travel fee.

Maryland sales tax is 6%, which is $51 on the $850 rental. Card payments include a 5% processing fee. A 35% deposit holds your date, and the balance is due 7 days before the event if we bring it, or at pickup.

The box is life-size, so it's a big piece to move. If your venue is in Annapolis, Columbia or Hunt Valley and you don't have a large vehicle, the $175 travel fee is worth a look.

Add-ons that build a full setup

These are the add-ons made for the Magazine Box:

  • Printer photo booth: $550. A booth next to the box that prints for every guest.
  • 4x6 prints: $250. Bigger prints from the printer booth (needs the printer booth).
  • Digital photo booth: $450. Photos, GIFs and boomerangs sent to guests' phones.
  • Photographer: $750. A photographer stationed with the box.
  • Flower frame: $550. A floral frame around the cover.
  • Balloon garland: $450. Styled around the box.
  • Red carpet and ropes: $200. Red carpet with stanchions and ropes.
  • Audio phone booth: $299. Guests pick up the phone and leave you a voice message.
  • Attendant: $50 an hour, from 2 to 10 hours.

Two sample setups, before tax:

  1. Wedding in Mount Vernon: Magazine Box ($850), flower frame ($550), printer photo booth ($550) and 4x6 prints ($250), with the $175 travel fee. $2,375.
  2. 50th birthday in Towson: Magazine Box ($850), balloon garland ($450) and digital photo booth ($450), picked up. $1,750.

Cover ideas by event

The cover is where the fun is. You pick your design after you book, and these are a few starting points.

Weddings. A "Wedding Edition" cover with your names and date, and headlines about how you met. A historic ballroom like The Belvedere in Mount Vernon is a natural setting, and the flower frame suits it.

Milestone birthdays. A 30th, 40th or 50th with headlines about the guest of honor's best moments. Gold and silver balloon garlands look great in the photos. House parties in Pikesville, Owings Mills or Bel Air can make room for it in a living room or backyard.

Galas and fundraisers. A cover with the event name and the cause. Museum settings like the Baltimore Museum of Industry at the Inner Harbor or the American Visionary Art Museum in Federal Hill give the box a backdrop with character. The photographer add-on makes sure sponsors and speakers get a proper shot.

Bridal parties and showers. The bride on the cover, the bridesmaids filling the frame. A shower in Ellicott City, Catonsville or Severna Park can pair it with the audio phone booth for voice messages to the couple.
